For the Anita Blake readers on my flist -

This is, to my mind, one of THE best responses I've ever seen a person give to the continuing inner-squabble between those who like the direction the books are going and those who don't. Obviously, I still love them. I want more of them. As many as Laurell K Hamilton gets to write. And I've never found the crime scene plot vs evolving sexual content of the books to be at odds. The earlier books were a third the size of the current books - so of course you have less time to cover things. Now, with the long books we (yea!) are getting - you have more than enough cover to cover space to have both crime, sex, etc. But I need to shhhhhhhh...lol - and let you read the response I mentioned above:

(There aren't any true spoilers in this post, btw - nothing you couldn't have read on the dust jacket of Danse Macabre.)

PS - if you're one of the folks complaining...lol, I've had a bad day, so let's not start something here. I'm just sharing a well thoughtout view that agrees with my own.

Thought the fans of the Anita Blake books would get a hoot out of this:

"Danse Macabre" Interview

And you can see the commercial for "Danse Macabre" online here!!!

"Danse Macabre" Commercial

And to have fun - I just discovered that Anita Blake has her own Wikipedia entry!!! Found HERE You can also click on Laurell K Hamilton's entry there, too. (((Pay special attention to the links at the bottom that are all Variations of Anita Blake Entries - like Humans, Undead, Lycanthrope, Other Characters and Anita Blake mythology!!!)))

The book comes out on June 27th!!! It's book 14!!! So if any of you are craving a new series to get into, I would STRONGLY recommend this series. To me, at least, it's one of the best I've read - and each book gets better and better. If you have ever found yourself becoming disenchanged with a series, or find that the author isn't doing all that she/he used to for you - I recommend Laurell and Anita Blake. This is a writer who becomes more and more captivated by her own characters and their world, and it shows. She's enjoying it, and so are the readers!

Laurell K Hamilton's Official Site.

Laurell K Hamilton's BLOG - which is fantastic because she posts all the time, and gives you a lot of insight into her writing process and she discusses each book as she's writing them! It's so dang rare to get such an insight into a writer's mind!!!

PS - Yes, I'm using my most "Ashton Forster" icon, because my beautiful OMC from "Encompassed" is SUCH an Anita fan!!! lol...

The fandom meme, tagged by [livejournal.com profile] nytelover -

1. Current fandoms: Good lord, are you prepared for the answer? lol... Current Reading Fandoms are: QAF (UK & US), The X-Files, The Sentinel, Anita Blake, Once A Thief, From Eroica With Love, La Femme Nikita, Highlander (I named my dog after Methos...lol), Buffy/Angel (Spike - THUD), Forever Knight, OZ, Star Trek: TNG and some Voyager, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Homes, RareSlash, MovieSlash (If I like the movie...), Due South, Ai No Kusabi and Velvet Goldmine. Fandoms I've written in - QAF (UK & US), From Eroica With Love and La Femme Nikita.

2. Shows I love but don't read fic in: Uhmm, pretty much if I love it, I'll read it. Alot...lol.

3. First fandom ever: Reading? The X-Files, without doubt. It hooked me good, and I'm still a Mulder/Skinner hound. Plus, reading X-Files fics was indirectly responsible for me writing my first fic - ironically in another fandom. Thanks to Xanthe's encouragement. First Fandom Fic? Queer As Folk, UK.

4. My most recent fandoms: It's a kind of toe-dipping technique, really. Ha... If I see something that intrigues me, I'll give it a go. Odds are, I'll stay with it for awhile, then go on to other things, then after time I'll revisit it and try to find all the goodies I missed in the mean time. There are a lot of fandoms in which very few folks continue to write after the first wave of newness wears off, or after the show finishes airing...lol. So I'll read the odd fic in old favorite fandoms / pairings when I find them. But there are fandoms that I have and will continue reading allllll the damn time...lol. See No. 5 for details...

5. Five fandoms that mean a lot to you: The UK QAF fandom, because I was there long before alot of folks...lol, and it was fucking brilliant all the way around. It's also helped bring me love and friendship, and a chance to see the world a little more than I ever thought I would. The US QAF fandom because I'm so deeply involved in all aspects - writing, betaing, recapping, archiving and moderating. I'm there for the long haul, even in times of doubt. The X-Files, because it was the first. And because of the massive talents that leave me in awe every time I revisit old favorites. (Btw - how could I not choose this as a favorite fandom when my internet handle is "Fox" spelled backwards...lol.) And I also adore the Sentinel and Highlander fandoms - I am fasinated by the various dynamics of my chosen pairings in both, and the fantastical additions like hightened senses, and immortality.

Ok - here's another of my absolute PASSIONS!!!!

The Anita Blake books by Laurell Hamilton - THUD!!!!!!!!!!

I friggin' adore them. Have read them many times. Will again and again!!!

Just imagine - All mythical creatures are real. Vampires, Werewolves, etc etc. Vampires are tax paying citizens...lol. But that doesn't mean everyone is happy happy about their newly constitutionally declared "living" status. Even some of the Vamps don't like the legitimacy that brings. So enter an EXTRAORDINARY woman - SNARKY AS HELL!!! Who can kick ASS, baby!!! Anita Blake. She's the Vampire Executioner for the state. She raises zombies for a living. And she's being courted by the Master of the City (head vampire) - Jean Claude.

Best thing - Jean Claude is BI!!! lol... He once loved another male vampire named Asher....sigh. Was a member of a threesome - m/f/m - for decades. Needless to say - the books are fabulous - and the sexuality is wide spread....lol. If you adore sexual tension - and the slash potential FULLY acknowledged - these are fabulous reads!!!

Favorite characters - Jean Claude and Asher. Also adore Jason, Nathaniel and Damian.

Then there's Anita.... Whoo Hooooooooooooooooo!!! lol...

Here's some links / recommendations - to some of THE best fan art work, official sites and fan sites on the Net for Anita Blake!!!!!!! Trust me, pretty please - if you ever wanted some FUN, luv your supernatural - and need sex added into the mix - here you are!!!! lol....

Take a look - tell me what you think!!!!!!!!!!
