It's official!!! Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake will be hitting our screens in 2010.

Go here to read the announcement:

This is not an April Fool's day gag - the news leaked yesterday. And I'm encouraged that it is being done on IFC - less likely to be censored down into the ground that way.

Hugs.

Barnes & Nobles - LKH Q&A Thread

LKH is taking questions as part of the B&N "Center Stage" thread this week. She seems to be answering a good many, too.

Sooo, go take a look - and by alllllll means, ask the woman a question. I did. (Wondering if she'll pick it...lol.)

Have you ever had an experience where it seemed like your own fic was haunting you? lol...

Really!

So I'm working on the sequel to "Encompassed" - which features Brian/Michael from US QAF, but also has two original characters that I created named Declan Rai and Ashton Forster.

First odd thing a few weeks ago - I'm randomly surfing around, because my muse isn't working - grrr - and I come across a song called "Ash" - so I think oh that's cool, I'll give it a listen. Moron that I am, I didn't realize that it was by Gackt. I luv me some G...lol. So that was a coincidence.

But lately - my muse is getting better and better - and while I'm still going slowly compared to a lot of other fic writers, I'm still getting a bunch done. (Can you say page 98?)

And as I get further and further into this fic, I have Declan using his special nickname for Ashton more and more. He usually does it during emotional moments, or when they are their most connected. So the nickname's floating around in my brain.

What's the point? Wellll.... Another thing I luv is Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake Series. So I'm stealing time from my own fic to read her latest book - "The Harlequin" - and what do I find? Something that had me going "whoaaaaaaa."

Page 303 (btw - the number 3 has ALWAYS been my number *cue Twilight Zone music*) - one of LKH's characters - the vampire Requiem - quotes a poem I have never read.

"Darkling, I listen; and, for many a time I have been half in love with easeful Death, Call'd him soft names in many a mused rhyme." (Ode to a Nightingale)

Awww!!! Darkling.... That's the nickname. (And yes, that seriously means I'm behind on my Keats, but oh well. I can quote Shakespeare until the cows come home, so there!)

Margo actually laughed at me when I mentioned it. She'd finished the book in one day, and I was on day three of reading - but she'd noticed the reference and had held her tongue for two days before I read it...lol. Person!

So yes - I'm being haunted in little ways, via my other hobbies and interests, to return to my own fic. :) ha... And how is YOUR day going?

(Who's going to ignore that TWO of the leads in yesterday's Doctor Who episode "Blink" were called "Nightingale" and that the BOOKshop was called "Sparrow and Nightingale" - awwwwww...lol.)

ETA - This entry may win the award for having the most, and most varied, lj tags in my whole lj history...snicker.

For your edification, there are now two chapters of the new Anita Blake book available to read - HERE.

Yes, they are not in order - Chapter One, Chapter Six - which is probably supposed to keep as much of the plot a secret as Laurell can and still be sharing with us like she usually does.

Just consider it a tease...

The first chapter of Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake book, "The Harlequin," is on her website HERE!!!

And, in case you don't read her blog, or get the email newsletter (Yes, I am a AB dork!) - then you should know that Laurell is writing a pre-quel comic to the Anita Blake series. Yea!! And it will hold such goodness as the first meeting of Anita and JC, and Anita and Edward. (I really don't think that's sooo spoilerish that I have to have a cut - you'd get more of that off the comic book website...)

Sooo, if you interested, as you should be! - then here's more info, and the cover art of the comic - Click Here.

Also - Laurell has her own official MySpace page found HERE.

Enjoy!

You know - there's something intensely refreshing and cathartic to see a writer say publicly what I've been feeling about her negative fanbase for sooooo many years!!! LKH - brava!!! You rock, you roll and lady - I luv you!

Wanna read a kick-ass response to the nay-sayers of the Anita Blake series? Wanna also be given the gift of more spoilers for the next book, "The Harlequin"?!?!? Then go, run, to read her Dec 29, 2006 post:

http://blog.laurellkhamilton.org/

Deep sigh, big grin....

Some will prob be offended - oh well. I'm truly thankful she said it. Because it's the truth. And it'll give a lot of us who *do* enjoy her books some space to breathe more freely when we check the boards, lj's, etc. I'm frankly sick of the complaints. Believe me, I don't wear rose-colored glasses, but if all you've got to say is I hated this, or didn't like that - then why put yourself, us and LKH through it?

I still enjoy them, a lot. I have an emotional investment in the characters. They are fantastic creatures, human or non-human. And I have been and will remain loyal to the end.
