So we know that Russell T Davies has this thing about reusing names. Especially Tyler. There's Tylers all over his work. (What do you think? He just likes the sound of it? Or maybe it's something wicked and personal? Ohhh, maybe the first boy who shagged him was name Tyler? Hehe - sorry, that was a joke, you'll have to forgive the crazy drugged sick xof who's typing instead of sleeping...*moan*)
Annnnnnnnnyway, back to the point. There is one, I swear.
Soo, we have Tylers. Spread out all over. Vince in QAF, Rose in Doctor Who, some mention in the Second Coming, I'm told. Etc etc.
Well, he also reuses Smith - but it's such a common name - who cares, right? Ohh, but wait a minute - he likes to reuse first names too! Mickey, for instance. Mickey Blake in Qaf, and - you know who in Doctor Who.
So what? Well (and if you've made this connection - you'll have to bare with me...hehe, there's a really bad observation and/or pun coming up) - let's add those two names together, shall we? We have the surname Smith, and the first name Mickey, yes? That makes Mickey Smith! (Love him or hate him as soooo many do...lol) on Doctor Who!
But wait! There as a RTD "Mickey Smith" BEFORE "Doctor Who"!!!
That's right folks and fellow Whovians alike. As I stared at my screen with blurry eyes tonight - trying, unsuccessfully I might add, to find maybe a new or never seen pic of the luvly Aidan or Craig....pouting as I frown in misery at my failure - I happened upon this reminder.
Queer As Folk 2 - Episode 1 - Scene 1 - the horrible, omg please stop the insanity NOW - threesome that never was - there was Stuart Alan Jones, Vince Tyler and .... drumroll please.... Mikey Smith!!! That's right folks - the brief appearance of Clinton Kenyon as "Mickey Smith"... ((See pics of him here:
http://www.harchester.net/profiles/profiles.asp?season=2&profile=14
and here:
http://espnstar.com/dreamteam/bios/maincontent.html#Warren ))
Who not only was a) played by a black actor just like on DW, b) had his hair shaved off kinda like Doctor Who's MS does in Series 2, c) is a character I didn't like at ALL - the big meanie talking to vince like that and getting in the middle of our very own Stuart/Vince potential shag-a-thon ((kinda like I don't really care for the Doctor Who MS, getting in between the Doctor and well....anyone...lol, Rose, Jack (wishful thinking...sigh), etc)) - but mostly - and here's the point:
d) In QAF, you have Mickey Smith snogging Vince Tyler (I'm still trying to block out the Stuart lip-lock since it was sans Vince...pout). In Doctor Who, you have Mickey Smith snogging Rose Tyler. Russell's got a thing about slipping some Smith-Mickies to each Tyler who makes the mainstream airwaves...lol.
Not only that, but here's one more fun bit of drugged-ohhh,-I-just-realized-that-kinda fun:
If "Mickey Smith" is the "tin dog" of the modern day Doctor Who series (that's a quote btw, from the DW series for those of you who don't watch the show) - then Stuart and Vince almost had a three way with K-9!!! hehe.... (kidding, really, I'm kidding....please don't throw me out of the QAF and Doctor Who families!)
Okay - that's enough of my silliness - have a luvly Thursday! I'm off to try and sleep again, wish me luck.
hugs
xof
(Who'll be rather embarrassed to re-read this tomorrow...eek.)
