Okay - so some of you have heard this - but I wanted to put it here because I was proud of how I handled the situation. I was never good at word wars in school - was always the one who lost, and ended up feeling like a trembling mouse in the corner if you can believe.
But the internet is a new world for expressing - and DEFENDING yourself when others attack.
So here's what happened to me after I posted QAF Episode 401's recap a couple weeks back:
So I get this email this morning - Colby invites me to join a QAF season 4 list. Says my recap will be posted for me. (((Huh??)))
So I join - and find that my recap has been posted - but NO name was given as author!!! So I leave a comment:
"Colby - thank you for the invite to this list.
And I'm more than willing to share my recaps here.
But I do object to you posting them for me, and then leaving out my name as author.... Makes it seem like it appeared out of the sky.
For those interested, I did write the recap below. And will be reposting it as it was originally intended. xof"
Colby apologizes. Ok, fair enough. Says this is new for him/her.

Then I read this as a reply to my recap on that list - here's the attack:

"If you like Brian & Justin and Ben, this recap is not very satisfying. The person who writes these detests those 3 characters, and has for 4 years.
She want's Mickey to be paired with Brian. Period. Now that it's crystalmeth-clear that ain't ever gonna happen, she's snarky.
Notice how every B/J scene description(even the serious and tender ones) are filled with 'LOL' and 'hehe' and , 's.
Better yet, don't bother.

So I can't let that go....lol. This is how I responded:

"It's a funny thing when once it happens. You wake up one morning - to find a) your recaps have been posted to a group without your permission, and without your name as author.... and b) you discover that you actually have a lying hatemonger commenting on your work...lol.
Hi, I'm Xof. I wrote that recap. I am in fact the "she" that Bill so apparantly adores. So let's begin the party, shall we???
1) If you're looking for a recap that is narrowly focused to the excusion of half the cast - sorry my work isn't for you.
2) If you think I "detest" Brian, Justin and Ben. Darlin, are you insane??? hehe... I'm not a B/J shipper. That's true. Very admittedly. But I do NOT destest any character on the show. And I have for 4 years now worked to give the cast and the episodes the all-emcompassing respect they deserve. I have in fact been complimented time and again, by people all over the world for giving them the most well-rounded version of what happens in each episode. And I pay JUST AS MUCH attention to the scenes that feature Brian, Justin and Ben as I do those that feature Ted, Emmett, Michael or the girls. (((Quite frankly, I'm wondering if you even READ the recap at this point...lol.)))
3) I admit to being snarky. It's meant to be amusing and add humor to the recap. And yes, I enjoy reading and writing fics that have Mikey paired with Brian. However, if you'd do your research - I've also written stories that have them both with other people. I've paired Brian with Emmett. I've paired Justin/Michael/Brian. I've paired Ben/Michael/Brian. I've paired Brian and Michael with orginal characters, too. Hell, I've even paired Ted/Emmett/Dale Wexler. And they've all had incredible sex with equal orgasms for all!!! lollllll.....
4) As for my "lol", "hehe" and "snorts" - snicker...lol. I do that for practically EVERY scene that I can find humor in. And those are in no way meant to belittle the scenes' intent. It's to share and entertain. And I will have you know that they get expressed in scenes with feature ANY cast member - as long as the dialogue or circumstance calls for it...
Finally - these are meant as a gift. If you don't like my way of doing them. Don't read it. No skin off my nose. Thanks so much for expressing your opinion. I'm so glad that over 42,000 fans don't share your displeasure.

That is one of my better moments on the net, and in life I guess. I took up for myself, with a greater sense of grace than I was feeling. And I'm proud of it.
