Movie Synopsis from site above:
Jamie Thraves returns to the familiar London environs of his feature debut, The Low Down, and to the freewheeling, low budget aesthetic that made that film such an engaging delight.
Tom inexplicably leaves his wife and child, and finds himself deliberately down-and-out on the unforgiving streets of London. In a doctor's waiting room, Aidan, a motormouth with a curious lisp, jabbers away about nothing in particular to folk who couldn't care less. Much to Tom's disdain and discomfort, Aidan latches on to him and, with nowhere else to go, Tom finds himself in Aidan's flat, unable to escape the strange man's orbit. Aidan's girlfriend Linda is quite unlike her naïve partner, being streetwise and aggressive, and Tom witnesses their malfunctioning relationship. Jamie Thraves returns to the familiar London environs of his feature debut, The Low Down, and to the freewheeling, low-budget aesthetic that made that film such a delight when it emerged a decade ago. Despite carrying an unsettling edge, Treacle Jr is no less of a joy and is frequently hilarious, boasting three exceptional performances: Fisher is utterly convincing as a man lost without reason; Steele makes quite an impression in her first feature role; and Gillen has rarely been seen like this before. Renowned for steely cool characters, he's both sympathetic and funny as a damaged loser here, in a role completely lacking in vanity.
