Pimping for a friend....lol.

Okay - who amongst you remembers the HORROR that was the school/band/club fundraisers in school??? Come on, I know you do!!! I was put through everything from selling Christmas wrapping paper door to door, to Gormet suckers and M&M's in the halls of my school. The paper was like ... groan....lol. But the candy!! Gooooooood lawd, the boxes we had to lug around for this academic club or that. We were like the pushers of our day, babes - I tell you. Anyone wanting a jones just had to hunt down a beta club member or band member and they were rocking on a sugar high for the next couple hours...lol.

And let's not talk about how much of that candy *disappeared* or even worse, you ended up eating YOURSELF!!! lol....

Ohhhhh, and my favorite - grade school - mathathon. What whacked out idiot decided it was a good idea for preteens to go door to door selling the "potential" for success??? lol... Like for every right answer you got, so and so would donate a quarter - or a dollar if you were realllllly lucky. Ha... Just think how many dangerous situations kids and their parents got put in just to fund the new band uniforms...lol. "Hello, Mr. Smith. I know you're our neighbor from a block over, and I don't really know you at alllllll - but would you mind sponsoring me for the mathathon???" *quick glances to your mom to make SURE you weren't standing there on the wierdo/guy's doorstep all by yourself...ha*

Annnnyway - I fully commiserate with all the kids (esp. public school kids) who are continually subjected to the ***FUN*** (read - ordeal) that is school fundraising. And as such, I trullllly hope and encourage my flist to give a couple seconds to take a gander over at mo_chailin_rua - 's lj and see if you want to help out her efforts for her luvly son. Hey, there's CHOCOLATE!!! And nuts!! And candles!! And *gasp* wrapping paper!!! And sooo much more...lol.
