Sorry to bother, but considering the interests of alot of my friends on lj - I thought there would be more than a few interested in this information.

Btw - I've seen my mom's absentee ballot - and YES, in GA at least - there is a question directly related to this... Asking if she considered marriage strickly a union between a man and a woman, to which she marked "NO" with a biggggggggggg old "x"....lol. Gotta luv mom.

Hugs

I presume this would be of interest to fellow U.S. slash fans . . .

From the ACLU

On Election Day, eleven states have proposals on the ballot to amend their state constitutions to forever bar same-sex couples from being recognized as partners. The ACLU is calling on you to help fight these anti-gay ballot initiatives by calling your friends and family who live in one of these eleven states and asking them to help defeat these discriminatory measures.

When you see this, post a bit of poetry in your own LJ.

(I chose this because - well, embarrassingly enough...lol. It's one of the MANY beautiful narrated poems on the "Beauty and the Beast: The Series" soundtrack. Believe me, if you think you've heard this poem - you've NEVER heard it until you hear Ron Perlman reciting it in his "Vincent" voice....THUD!!!)

somewhere i have never travelled

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
